Bakery Documentation Soundtrack

A Cinematic Score for a Local Story
During my time studying Online Media at DHBW Mosbach, I had the opportunity to contribute to a documentary project as part of a film class. The project was part of the StadtLandFluss-Geschichten series, a collection of short documentaries showcasing the lives and professions of people in and around Mosbach.
Bäckerei Dreschflegel
Our group focused on Bäckerei Dreschflegel, a family-run bakery where tradition and craftsmanship take center stage. The film follows Karin and Josef Walter, who run the bakery with a dedication to handmade techniques, balancing their passion for baking with the challenges of family life.
Composing the Soundtrack
While I assisted in filming detail shots, my main contribution was composing an original soundtrack for the documentary. This was my first experience writing music specifically for a film, and it was an exciting challenge to create a score that enhanced the storytelling.
The soundtrack is thoughtful and cinematic, blending orchestral elements with a restrained, yet engaging mood. My goal was to strike a balance—adding just the right amount of epicness without overwhelming the scenes. For example, the sequences showing the bakers carefully preparing dough with their unique formulas called for a sense of precision and tradition, which I aimed to reflect in the music.
